CMDR library is one of the leading social science research libraries in north Karnataka with a large collection of books, journals, thesis, reports, CDs, working papers and occasional papers of other social science institutes.

Library follows Dewey Decimal Classification system for the classification and arrangement of the documents. It is fully computerised with latest software LIBSYS 7.0 for housekeeping operations and also it provides Online Public Access Catalogue for its readers.

Collection : The collection of the Library is rich and diverse especially in the field of Health Economics, Tobacco, AIDS / HIV, Economics of Education, Environmental Economics, etc. It has a collection of 23585 documents including books, reports, working/occasional papers, etc. The library has subscription for 62 national and international journals. In addition, the library possesses 1134 back volumes of the journals, 141 CDs and 66 theses. A separate collection of research papers (reprints) authored by some of the leading social scientists have also been preserved.

Library subscribes to online database like JSTOR, IndiaStat.com, EPW and Sage online journals.

COMPUTER LAB


The Centre's computer facilities are being increasingly used by the faculty, its administrative staff as well as social scientists and students from elsewhere. These facilities also help the researchers visiting the institute for various training programmes, computer application in research methodology course etc. The Data Processing unit of the institute provides data processing facility as well as help in statistical methods to research scholars.

The Institute has state-of-the-art computer centre with about 35 computers hooked through a local area network. A last mile fibre-optic connectivity with 100 Mbps (1:1) Bandwidth providing continuous internet facility has been added. We have a set of high-speed Color Digital Printer, LaserJet Network Printers for production of quality outputs to support our system. It is also equipped with an Uninterrupted Power Supply Unit with battery backup for full computer system.

Seminar Hall

An air conditioned seminar hall with multimedia equipments - LCD Projector, public address systems and with a sitting capacity of 60 chairs is available for academic activities of the Institute. Requests for the use of seminar hall should be forwarded to the Director, CMDR through heads of the institutions
