Center for Multidisciplinary Development Research (CMDR), Dharwad is a premier social science research institute catering to the needs of union and state government. Unlike biological, physical, mathematical, etc., sciences, the nature of issues under the study of social sciences is different. The human brain which is highly dynamic keeps on learning on a continuous basis and new things keep on accumulating to the behavioural component of human beings. Hence it is challenging to predict, document, and analyse the behaviour of any individual. Social scientists are making their best possible efforts to put everything in a framework and do some justice to humankind.
Center for Multidisciplinary Development Research (CMDR), established by a group of social science luminaries has been in action since 1980 in Dharwad, Karnataka. The institute is focusing on the issues viz., regional imbalance, environment, education, livelihood security, gender issues, development issues, Indian Knowledge Systems, and so on. The Union and State governments have identified CMDR as a think tank for framing policy for the state and the region.
In the past more than four and a half decades the institute has reached many milestones in the areas of minimizing the regional imbalance based on the studies conducted by the institute, major paradigm shifts in Tobacco cultivation, putting the facts associated with educational economics, development indices for measuring development, etc.
The institute makes all possible efforts to bring social science researchers on common platforms by organizing lecture series, seminars, conferences, research methodology workshops, regional seminars, essay writing competitions, etc. The faculty of the institute is recognized by academic institutes, development-related institutions, and policy-making bodies at the state and national levels.
The institute invites professionals who can contribute generously in the various dimensions of social sciences to collaborate at individual and institutional levels and achieve institutional goals together.
The CMDR also provides an opportunity to launch collaborative research projects both short and long-term for symbiotic benefits. The institute is already having an MOU with premier institutions within and outside the state of Karnataka. I invite interested social science research institutions to also join hands with CMDR for common research interests and futuristic perspectives.
Coming together is beginning and working together is progress.
Thanking you all
